Risers Custom

Handlebar brackets for the connoiseurs

Sawed off the handlebar a few centimeters next to the Springer triple clamp and clamped on the stubs a few Dog Bones. Dog Bones? Well, they look a bit like a chew bone. A round clamp at each end, a piece of rod in between: here you have a handlebar riser and relocation ... With the Hydra Glide forks arrived an explosion of custom risers: turned, cast, curved, milled, short, high, higher, slim, baroque, whatever it takes ... Biltwell, Dynamite, Faber, Ritz, RSD: all these manufacturers strive for individual handlebar mounts.

Can I simply change risers?

Mechanically, the removal and installation of handlebar holders is certainly one of the easier tasks. Critical only when you try to install that Apehanger with 8 "high risers. Looks spectacular, but the total lever length of riser and Bates Long Beach handlebars or V-Team Apehanger can be easily more than half a meter. Not a nice combination, when you hit the brake, even with much PanAm Tork Max. By the way, it also becomes critical if the required certificate (at least for Germany, Austria, Switzerland) cannot be presented together with the vehicle documents during the technical inspection. Anyone who values a well-kept and undisturbed ride should take care of this point when selecting the risers.
