This is the original 6-speed design that revolutionized the American V-Twin industry. Yet, it‘s still one of the best overdrive 6-speeds built to this day...hands down. The BAKER OD6 is built to comfortably handle the power from today's big-inch motors and has the gear ratios to suit your fast highway cruising needs. Example: in 6th gear at 70 mph, the engine revs 2720 rpm compared to 3170 rpm with a regular 5-speed transmission (calculated data based on a 24/37 primary, a 32/70 secondary, and a 25” rear tire).

Six gears instead of five? Do you need that with an engine as torquey as a Harley?

150 Nm of torque should be more than enough, yet a Harley with a Milwaukee Eight has six gears. This suggests that a sixth gear could also be an improvement for the Evo classics and the first Twin Cams. It's the old story: the smaller the rpm jumps between the individual gears, the better the engine remains in the optimum rpm range throughout - and that makes you fast!
