These air pressure shock absorbers with SAS (Simplified Air Suspension) are designed for Harley-Davidson Softail models and combine the shock absorber and compressor in one compact unit. This reduces installation effort, as only a few external components are required.
The external components include a handlebar-mounted control unit, which replaces the clutch lever clamp, an air supply hose with a protective filter against dust and splash water, as well as the electrical connections to the control unit and the battery. Using the control unit, the air pressure of the rear suspension can be adjusted depending on road conditions, load, or the desired vehicle height.
Installation of the shock absorber unit and the control unit is straightforward. During installation, a sufficient safety clearance between the tire and the fender must be maintained, and the swingarm bump stops must remain installed.
