Unlike other shock absorber type, Softail shocks have no rubber cushion pads. Instead, the stopping cushions are located on the upper swingarm section. These rubber cushions should be checked regularly and replaced if necessary. A must when installing new shock absorbers.
The same rubbers are used on 1987-1990 FXRs as jiffystand stops.
