From 1970 onward, the ignition coil on Harley-Davidson Sportster models is mounted above the front cylinder head behind the steering head. The ignition coil bracket is bolted into the same mounting hole used for the front fuel tank tabs. Our bracket matches the original part used from 1970–1994, but it also fits up to 2003 if a custom solution is found for mounting the ignition switch.
