EnerSys Odyssey AGM Batteries
Where room is sparse and small batteries are demanded, EnerSys Odyssey batteries are the choice. They combine AGM technology (acid in absorbent glass mats) with high-purity lead plates (99.99% pure lead). In addition, the Odyssey plates are of especially thin contsruction, leading to optimum contact between acid and plates due to the extra large plate surface. The result is enormous cranking power, considering their size, and up to an 80% discharge rate. An average flooded battery gives you about 30%. As always in life, nothing good is for free. Odyssey batteries have to be isolated against vibrations and work best between -40°C and +60°C. The deep cycle discharge rate of 80% requires proper recharging to avoid sulfation, which in turn would destroy the precious battery. Short distance or low mileage per year riders should seriously consider an applicable charger. Implementing these low maintenance steps for the batteries will reward you with up to four times longer lifetime- compared to standard batteries - and low discharge rate.
