Developed in 1953 in San Diego, California, by the Rocket Chemical Company, WD-40 was initially created as a water-displacing formula to prevent corrosion in the aerospace industry. After 40 attempts, the original WD-40® Multi-Use Product formula was perfected and remains unchanged today. Over the decades, WD-40 has become known for a wide range of uses, including loosening stuck parts, preventing rust, maintaining tools, and removing dirt.
