Well Aged New Order

Kobe … ring any bells? The Japanese metropolis on Osaka Bay is the namesake for those edible four-legged creatures and their mega expensive beef, that are said to be regularly given beer massages (and the odd drink of beer to keep their appetite up). Wait a minute: manual labour skilfully applied to beefy bikes and the occasional sip of barley brew – that sounds a lot like a your regular chopper workshop. What's more, a Big Twin with a fat tank and wide handlebars definitely has a beefy look about it. So it's quite fitting that Kobe is also home to a legendary two-wheeled event: the New Order Chopper Show.

Wait a minute, “New Order”? As in "new"?

Well, yes. Although the show was taking place for the twentieth time this year, it usually manages to showcase choppers that reinterpret the idea of “custom” in exciting new and groundbreaking ways. And what about "Order"? That’s also a yes: the magnificent bikes are neatly lined up in two exhibition halls, a wild herd of rare breeds straining at their bridles, breathing wild wrenching, devilish details and visual delight.

That’s all nice and well then, but what so extra-special about NOCS?

It's the outside parking lot, which extends the show going on inside by countless works of art on wheels, ridden and parked there by visitors, custom artists, Harley enthusiasts, vintage freaks, garage dwellers ... the side effect is that you can also see and hear the choppers alive and in motion: these are not ephemeral works of art, these are real asphalt burners and mile eaters.

But it's not just the parking lot that made NOCS worth a visit

once more: they had more spectators than ever digging kustom culture on all levels. Choppers as far as the eye could see, custom cars, rope acrobatics, cosplay, martial arts, burlesque performances, merch, style, photos, art, pin striping... The New Order Chopper Show was once again a hot bed of good taste in 2025 – and that at almost 40 degrees Celsius.
