When H-D became majority stockholder of Aermacchi in 1960 it not only added European lightweight motorcycles to the fleet but also opened easy access to Italian high performance components like Borrani flanged aluminum rims, Dell’Orto carburetors, Oldani brakes etc. Consequently it didn’t take long before these were seen on KR series race bikes and in 1964 the first stock Sportsters with flanged alloy rims rolled off the assembly line. After all, race-proven performance parts couldn’t hurt on sporting street bikes. The rims offered here are reproductions of the factory rims from this era.
