Live To Ride, Tombstone, AZ
Tombstones and Hot Metal
When a town calls itself Tombstone, and is located somewhere in Arizona, you can expect some heavy Wild West vibes. A glance in the rearview mirror will tell you that here on October 26, 1881 the infamous gunfight at the OK corral took place, featuring the three Earp brothers, their friend Doc Holliday and a bunch of shady cattle rustlers. Many a gunman took their final bullet in this tough ("the town too tough to die") outpost, which is regularly reenacted with blank ammo for thrill seeking tourists.
This past weekend featured explosions
of a different kind though. It was the exhalations of the hundreds of choppers joining the Live to Ride Tombstone event, taking place in the dusty tumbleweed streets of downtown Tombstone.
This was the plan: Step one: get here.
Step two: get a beer, take a leisurely stroll, watch out for horses!, and enjoy the show. There’s the live bands, the Wild West themed shopping, the all important tattoo shops, the event related rebates all over town, the kick start contest, the chance to win a Shovelhead in the raffle, and, (we’re finally back to the theme that put Tombstone on the map: death) the gravity defying „Ives Brothers’ Wall of Death“
