One Roof. And many Wheels.

If there's two things belonging together like saddle and handlebars, tank and gas cap, Harleys and wrenching on them it’s Barcelona and Design. Talking about wrenching: Antoni Gaudi’s legendary (and as yet unfinished) cathedral "Sagrada Familia", one of Barcelona’s major iconic landmarks, was begun in 1882 and is due to be finished in 2035 (!). No rush job, that one. Which brings us to the two- and four wheeled design objects that were on display this weekend under the roof of one of Barcelona’s open air pavilions. While it’s not the world famous German Pavilion of the 1929 World Fair, it’s just the right place to celebrate the spirit of customization and the great open road.

„Kustom Wheels“ isn’t one of those shows with an overwhelming

tsunami of retina exhausting custom bikes; rather it's a well curated gathering of bikes ranging from "as found" to "ground shatteringly awesome". Lots of airy space around each bike help to appreciate every out there detail, while live rock bands produce a sound track resonating between the US cars parked around the venue, the famous Barcelona street food supplied by numerous vans and stalls offering everything from t-shirts to classic custom culture apparel. ¡Hasta la próxima, tornillodores!
