2011 - Norrtälje
For the uninitiated it is just a one smørrebrød town on the Baltic Sea, for the devout customizer its the pilgrimage of the year: Norrtälje, situated some 70 kilometers east of Stockholm. And that‘s just where the maiden voyage of our new self-propelled tradeshow booth went – not a bad idea, ‘cos the pilgrims came in droves: with 8.000 bikes and 15.000 visitors the organizers registered a new record attendance.
The numerous competitions attracted 300 participants competing in these classes: H-D chopper, Chopper, Custom, Classic Custom, Classics, Modified Harley-Davidson, Trike, Best Paint Job and People‘s Choice.
The prizes all went to Finns, Norwegians and Swedes, which goes to show these dudes know one or two things about what they‘re doing style- and otherwise. That‘s probably why the Norrtälje Custom Show was invited to nominate two winning bikes for the ”World Championship of Custom Bike Building” 2011 in Sturgis, USA.
Fascinated by so many prizes we dug deep in the boot of the Bus and found two shopping vouchers the size of a euro pallet. They went to the best bikes in the categories “Modified Harley!” and “HD-Chopper”. Lasse Tirkkonen from Kuusankoski outside Helsinki not only won the highly competitive "HD-Chopper" class but also the audience's favorite of the day .
Next year we will be back in Norrtälje, ‘cos never ever we‘ll miss this great party again. Big Thank You to the Twin Club Norrtälje.
