Even more important than for the chain is a cover for the rear wheel drive belt. Even though it can withstand a fair amount of stress and tear, on the Softail, Sportster, Dyna, FXR or Electra Glide Ultra, it is quite defenseless against dust particles and small stones. And because such particles embed themselves in the soft material of the belt and thus damage the belt pulleys at the same time, the rear wheel timing belts have a double cover: for the upper and lower part of the belt.
