Ballistol

BALLISTOL - the name is a contraction of Ballistik and oleum - symbolizes the versatility of chemical products like few other brands. The formula for the original Ballistol was invented in 1904 by Dr. Helmut Klever, the son of the founder of Chemische Fabrik F.W.Klever in Cologne and a lecturer at the Technical University of Karlsruhe at the time. The universal oil was primarily intended for the army, as a weapon and stock oil and for the care of soldiers' leather equipment. It was also intended to be used by soldiers to treat minor cuts, abrasions and wounds. The basis for this oil was always pure liquid paraffin, although the special formula was kept secret by the manufacturer.

After a phase in which the fate of the company was partly in the balance, the company was able to recover under new management in the 1970s and '80s and now operates worldwide. In addition to the traditional universal oil, a wide range of lubrication and care products, cleaners and technical oils are sold under the Ballistol name.

Ballistol is a brand of F.W.Klever GmbH who has its actual seat in Bavaria.
