Autolite
The Autolite brand originated from the Electric Auto-Lite Company, which was founded in 1907 by Artemus W. Fisher in South Bend, Indiana. In 1911, Fisher partnered with Clement O. Miniger, and the company moved to Toledo, Ohio, to continue expanding as the Electric Auto-Lite Company.
In the 1930s, the company began developing spark plugs, and in 1936 the first Autolite spark plug was produced. From then on, Autolite supplied leading automobile manufacturers such as Chrysler, Studebaker, and Packard with spark plugs and other components.
In 1961, the Ford Motor Company acquired the Autolite brand as well as production facilities in Ohio and Michigan. However, after an antitrust proceeding, Ford had to sell the Autolite assets to the Bendix Corporation in 1973, which was later taken over by AlliedSignal. In 1999, AlliedSignal merged with Honeywell, and in 2011 the Autolite brand was sold to the FRAM Group.
Today, Autolite is a brand of the FRAM Group and offers a wide range of spark plugs for cars, motorcycles, and lawnmowers. The company has also been the official spark plug supplier for NASCAR since 2000.
