Matchlight Show, Eindhoven, NL

Tune in: „Chopper Times“ on Radio Royal!

The ON AIR light was on as every year in the Eindhoven "Radio Royal". This magic ex Philips factory has been transformed into a hip, vibrant, urban, creative, retro, you name it zone of possibilities. It's part of the The Strijp area and has been the venue for the Matchlight Motorcycle Show for years now. A seven hour pleasure ride was about to begin, and this was the programme: live music to get you in the groove, photo prints for the naked walls in your man cave, artists to give your life some meaning, special events and vendours for your custom culture needs. A few rather persistent showers saw to empty bike parkings outside, ...

.,..but inside the Radio Hall was humming

with the latest insane custom ideas and the heavy wrenching gossip of the visitors. No surprise for Matchlight regulars: Tons of Harleys, with a good number of Panheads and Shovelheads. Also, a lot of wrenchers had opted this year for the combination of S&S Shorties and breadbox air filters. Unusual.

Speaking about unusual: we had brought our lovely „Wrecking Crew“ JD board tracker, and had set it up on “The Cyclery” Vintage Army Bike Bench, based on original plans from WW II for the maintenance of army motorcycles.

A fine sight, and another little journey back in time.

Oh, it's late already. Well, this brings our little programme from Dutch chopperdom to an end, and we switch over to our broadcasting house!
