Tire »E240 Classic« by Shinko

Item №
26-281

With modern rubber technology and 3-ply base, the Shinko E240 presents itself as a perfect reproduction of the Goodyear Speed Grip. The 16" version of this classic was the original equipment of Harley-Davidson motorcycles in 1969 - 1980.

Like the E270, whose low-profile counterpart it is, the E240 Classic's tread is designed for highway and durability. Under the profile, the base is additionally reinforced with a layer of aramid. Thus, the load index is also significantly increased compared to E270 Super Classic. Of course, the Shinko E240 is homologated according to ECE-R75.

Classic Tires for Classic American Bikes

Finding the correct tires for correctly restored Harley-Davidsons often used to be troublesome or ended up in compromises. Our selection of classic tires offers the the possibility to equip almost any classic American two-wheeler with tires of authentic treads and size. We offer products of the renowned US manufacturer Coker as well as some alternatives by the Korean company Shinko. The Coker tires are so well made that even the rigorous AMCA (Antique Motorcycle Club of America) judges accept them as stock replacement.

Unlike today’s size indication classic tires were often identified by and marked with the outside diameter. To determine the required rim size you typically deduct 6” from the indicated OD.

Example: a 26 x 3” tire requires a 26 - 6 = 20” rim.
