Mounting Hardware for Risers

Tighten risers

All risers are screwed tight through the triple clamp. In most cases the riser mounting screw is screwed in from below, only in some cases the screw head sits in the riser and the screw goes through the handlebar bracket along its entire length. Depending on the triple clamp, of course, the riser screw goes through a hole in the clamp itself or through inserted or pressed-in bushings.

Rubber mounts - yes or no?

Invented to dampen the vibrations of the Milwaukee tractor, which put a strain on the driver's wrists and were tiring on hauls, rubber mounts were the answer. However, many riders were suspicious of the "rubber feel" when turning slowly or braking - especially with very wide or very tall handlebars - and fairly quickly there were kits with turned bushings to make the risers rigid and give the rider a more direct feel when steering. Those whose wrists fall asleep with rigid risers but don't like the rubbery feel of wide handlebars may find PU bushings the right combination.
