Turn Signal Indicator Control

Is it necessary to activate turn signal indicator lights?

Indicator lights are intended to remind the driver that he or she has pressed the switch or button - either intentionally or by mistake. The simplest and cleanest way to do this - and in many countries it´s a requirement - is for them to flash at the same rate as the turn signal lamps.

This is not complicated in the case of turn signal control lamps with bulbs. They are connected to the turn signal lamps on the respective side. If there is only one indicator light for left and right, you simply connect it to both circuits. It gets plus from the side that is flashing, ground is taken from the other circuit. The resistance of the indicator lamp (2-4W) is high enough so the "ground side" does not flash, control of the indicator lamps is done economically and functionally.

What about LEDs? Why is everything so complicated with LEDs?

LEDs have a fixed plus and minus connection, so each side can not take over the function of the other. The power of LED indicators is so low that they start to flash even at the lowest currents. If the indicator light is installed in a bridge between the left and right side, you must therefore install directional valves for the current.

So if your choice are LED turn signals or if some of them are already installed, be aware that there is the possibilty that a few electrons get mixed up and the turn signal indicator lights flash out of rythm.

To correct the electron currents, we recommend adapters and modules from Axel Joost and Kellermann. Their years of experience in control and lighting technology guarantees simple connection and worry-free operation.
