Tillotson carburetors

Nowadays, the name Tillotson is more familiar from chainsaws or go-carts. At the end of the 1960s, it was also an important brand for Harley riders. Sportster 1966-1971 and Electra Glide 1967-1970 were equipped with a carburetor model of this brand. Actually, the floatless "fuel metering system" was ingenious, but the HD series carburetors were too far ahead of their time on big, heavy motorcycles. In the words of Donny Peterson: "I have to say, they weren't bad carburetors, we just didn't understand them." The carburetors quickly lost their reputation and were replaced ex-factory by the Bendix brand in the early 1970s. Many wrenchers removed the Tillotson HD models after a few miles and replaced them with carburetors of their own preference.

However, we wouldn't be W&W Cycles if we couldn't at least offer spare parts and gaskets for these carburetors, which are no longer available new.
