Said to be an idea of William S. Harley and certainly one of the best accessories the factory ever made. When the Buddy Seat was first offered in 1933 it almost instantly became one of the top sellers among the accessories. At last there was an exciting and comfortable possibility for passenger transportation. The keepers of moral and order sure would have preferred the retention of the (never popular) tandem seats but once the Buddy Seats had been introduced on the market there was no turning back.
