Paul's 46 Knucklehead
Already back in the 40's the boys (and girls!!!) toured South America on their Knuckleheads so this bike is part of and continues the long tradition of going far places on Harleys. Being an FL model with 1200 ccm motor it has enough power for any situation or road condition and the comfortable seat with spring suspension smoothes out even the gravel sections of the Panamericana Highway, despite the bike's rigid frame. Ok, this is not a modern Enduro, but it is the rolling proof that you still can ride to end of the world (literally) on one of Milwaukee's classics. Paul's Knucklehead is mainly in original condition with the exception of shortened (bobbed) fenders, 19" wheels and a 12 volts electrical system. |

Joe's Knuckle 47 Knucklehead
The second Knuckle in the team and a 1200 cc version, too. This one has the correct, fully valanced fenders and matching 16 balloon tires. The next gas station can be pretty far away in Patagonia so this bike has 5 gallon gas tanks mounted and for better lights in foggy conditions it also features 12 volts electrics. Both Knuckles are equipped with specially made long distance leather saddlebags which unlike the original patterns swallow all the gear you need during a 5 week trip. Gear changes are performed with a hand lever and the clutch must be activated with the left foot - that's the way it is with Harley-Davidsons of this era, and no, you wo't find an electric starter, just a kicker pedal for your well-trained right leg. |

Volker's Sportster
Of model year 1995, which means the Evolution-Sportster is the team youngster (does not count for the rider!). This motorcycle is completely modified for enduro purposes with upside-down fork, aluminum swingarm, aluminum, very long distance 35 ltr. gas tanks, GPS, handlebar fairing etc. etc. The boxes contain the entire photo equipment to document the journey because the Sportster is the only bike in the group with rear suspension, which makes for a more bump-forgiving transportation for camera lenses. The 1200 ccm Evo engine develops enough ponies to push this 450 kg two wheeler southward against the strongest headwinds. |

Tommy's Panhead
The bike with Latin-America experience, because this banana-yellow Panamericana Panhead was participant during the first trip to the Darien in Panama/Central America, where the bike proved under extreme road condition what Panheads are made of. The chassis and the 1200 ccm engine are completely asssembled from parts of the vast W&W headquarter warehouses so this motorcycle is also a rolling proof - a proof for the W&W company slogan: "We ride what we sell". Tires are the new Distanzia series rubbers by AVON which are especially developed for long distance trips and feature excellent allround-characteristics for the variing road surfaces in Patagonia. |
